Highlights

OCTOBER 18, 2018 EAB MEETING SUMMARY and HIGHLIGHTS

Thank you to all who were able to attend our Oct 18, 2018 meeting. It was nice to see many of you. Our participation with students, faculty and Dean Ross Stewart is a significant part in both sustaining and building SBGE's programs.

For those unable to attend we have provided some highlights to keep you up to date on the EAB.  
EAB Chair Kristi Drake welcomes any comments and questions. 

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS - Traci Ratzliff, Matthew Brouwer, Heidi Kenoyer and Kimberly Nuber

  • EAB MEMBER UPDATES
    Roger Molvar and his wife have joined their son and family in Croatia to help build their ministry there. We are so thankful for Roger’s participation in the EAB over these years.
    Jeffrey Wilcox’s wife, Maria, has been named on of PSBJ’s Women of Influence.

  • EAB RESOURCE GUIDE is live!
    Thank you everyone for contributing information to this new tool as a mechanism for faculty, staff and student club leaders to connect with our Board. Please take a look on this site and let Kristi know of any changes. Password is falcons.

  • BUS 4942
    The format of our participation in the class has changed for this year. We are now participating in a classroom panel along with several scheduled times to meet students one on one. This new format has been enjoyed by all. Thank you Kim Sawers and to all who are active in the class.

  • BUILDING OUR BOARD
    As you know we are continuing our buildout of the board in its diversity. Our goal is to match the diversity of the SPU students and also the broad range of study offered by SBGE. We welcomed new members this month in Public Policy, Global Development and HR. We are continuing to see new members in the areas of:
    Public Policy/Administration
    Economic Development
    Logistics
    HR
    Cyber security
    Data Analytics                             

  • EAB TIMELINE - UPDATE
                  YEAR 2018
                 - Continue building acquaintance and relationship with SBGE
    - Board Diversity
                 - Determining and propelling SGBE initiatives along with obtaining resources
    - HR forums to increase knowledge of industry demands
                 - Brainstorming SBGE’s strengths and place in Seattle
                 - Continuing our support of Faith & Co. – SPU’s first Online class (MOOC)    
                 - Develop community service projects for all and life long learning for the EAB members.

                   YEAR 2019
                 - Continue to strengthen the previous goals
                 - Develop solid base of giving and support
                 - Possible Annual ‘signature’ grant award as a legacy of EAB
                 - Possible Annual Learning Institute for EAB members and alumni

  • SBGE NEWS - Dean Ross Stewart
    FAITH AND CO has just received additional funding of $500,000 to continue its development with additional courses. This is SPU's first MOOC (Massive Open Online Learning Course). We invite you to go the site for information and perhaps you will want to take the course. FAITH&CO Business on Purpose
    SPU has welcomed its largest freshmen class in several years.
    SBGE has increased its offering of several courses to match the marketplace demand.
    SBGE is in the midst of hiring several new professors in Marketing,International Business and Finance.

  • SBGE STUDENT CLUBS and ASSOCIATIONS
    We welcomed student leaders from SBGE’s clubs. As you know, we are always impressed with the professionalism and engagement these students demonstrate. This year was no exception. BEGIN, Global Development Association, Beta Alpha Psi and the Student Investment Fund each shared their top goals for this academic year.
