April 16, 2019 EAB MEETING SUMMARY and HIGHLIGHTS

Thank you to each of you who were able to attend the April 2019 EAB meeting and the 2019 Social Venture Plan Competition. Our special guest, B.J. Stewart, Chief Operating Officer of Urban Impact along with Steve Bury, Executive Director presented “SHARKS AT THE BEACH”. It is Urban Impact’s live pitch event for promising Entrepreneurs.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
Bonnie Sellen
has over 25 years of HR, labor relations, and administrative executive leadership experience in multiple industries: technology, marine transportation, education and healthcare. She currently has her own consulting firm.
Carol Kelly is the former Senior Vice President, Global Finance Operations at Oracle. She recently retired.

EAB ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS
SPU’s Downtown Business Breakfast
Thank you to everyone who attended the recent breakfast. Our membership enjoyed breakfast at the Executive Leadership Team sponsored tables along with SBGE students and guests of Ross Stewart.
Lunch with Guy Kawasaki Madrona Venture Group hosted a lunch event with Guy Kawasaki. There were 50 people in attendance including EAB members and others representing REI, Madrona Venture Group, Textio, Tempered Networks, SoundCommerce, Sur La Table, Nordstrom, Moss Adams, Peter Sullivan Accounting, Zillow, Price Waterhouse Cooper, Boeing, Microsoft, LuLu Lemon and JP Morgan Chase.
Special thanks to Heidi Kenoyer who served as interviewer for the event.
The event was so well-received plans are being developed for others in the near future. Many of those who were unable to attend wished to be notified when we host something like this again. AND those leaving the event said they looked forward to the next event!

Spring 2019’s class was the largest yet. Thank you to all 9 EAB members who were able to mentor students.

BUILDING OUR BOARD
As you know we are continuing our buildout of the board in its diversity. Our goal is to match the diversity of the SPU students and also the broad range of study offered by SBGE. We welcomed new members this month in Public Policy, Global Development and HR. We are continuing to see new members in the areas of:

HR
Cyber security
Data Analytics
